Post subject: Vote on a New Name for Blackguard Posted: Thu Mar 25, 2004 05:32 pm |

I'm trying to come up with a new name to use on websites (not necessarily in game) because Blackguard is taken... a guy who works for Blizzard owns the domain and uses the name. Since we're in the same basic are of the internet, I decided I should change my name.
Here's what I have come up with:
- Ashenguard - The opposite of Blackguard
- Doomweaver - Kinda cool
- Dyamirr - An old nick I used to use
- Adraedan - The root for "Dread" (adrędan)
- Ebonguard - Blackguard, but Ebon.
- Ebonheart - Shrug. Sounds okay.
- Wyrmclaw - Doesn't mean anything specific.. Just two words.
I'm voting "Other" so my vote doesn't influence any of them.
Note: I want the name to be easy to spell and not too genre-specific. Something that is also easy to remember would be nice too. |

| Adraedan is my selection, not overly long or hard to spell. |

| Adraedan is the best. The rest are corny. But BG is still awesome. That's too bad you're giving it up. |

FYI, Doomweaver and Wyrmclaw are fruity.
I picked Adraedan, even though it's a syllable long for my taste. |

I suppose I could put "Draedan" as an option. Removes a syllable Too late for that. I guess if you like that name just comment. I think the way to say "Draedan" would be "Dray-den" if you were wondering.
Also options: Dreadan, Dreaden, Adreden. |

I've chosen the name I'm going to use: Adraedan.
Basically this means...
- to fear greatly
- dread
- dreadnaught
I think that's pretty cool. In theory, it's supposed to be Adrędan, but since nobody but me knows the ascii code for ę (145), I'm using "ae" instead. It's also cool that it means Dreadnaught as well as Dread... Dreadnaught meaning someone without fear -- dread meaning fear. |

Definitely Adraedan. Of course, you could've went with "Judge Dredd", but I think that was a movie. |
